"Don't Tell The Bride!"

After watching a tv programme " Dont tell the bride" and the movies " The Hangover part 2" and " Bridesmaids" i was inspired to create these two images featuring the two parties of a wedding - the hen and stag dos. This gave me the chance to look at drapery and how the torso affects wrinkles in clothing.

Inspired by true events...

1) Childs Play - I have an 11 month year old niece who is obsessed with feet! strange girl, but inspired this piece as well as "Look who talking", "Baby's day out" and "3 men and a baby " movies. Babies can be cute and cunning..

2) The Real Cop - this was inspired by seeing a police horse in Middlesbrough last week. The concept being the horse is actually the officer who catches the criminals whilst the officer gets a nap!

Lyrical Art

So in between working on the comic commission was listening to i tunes and after doing my final project on a book, got the idea of illustrating artists and their songs/ So A is for Adele. Storytelling and emotion are key to my work and Adele lyrics were a contrast to B (is for " Bad meets evil").  Eminem and Royce 5'9s sequel album "Bad meets evil" tackles the same subject matter but with a completely different view. Anyway was thinking of carrying these on in my spare time, next up C ..

Line art - Silver surfer vs Galactus.

did this in adobe illustrator ,need to add colour for final piece.

A traditional approach

This week i was reading an interview in Imagine FX with Ian McCaig (concept artist for Star wars) and he said " the great thing about digital paint is that you change your mind forever, and the terrible thing about digital paint is that you can change your mind forever. I miss those days when you had to live with your mistakes, so i've banned  Ctrl - z from my workshop".

This advice resonated with me, so the following paintings were done with one chalk brush, one canvas and any mistakes were repainted. No custom brushes, filters, or textures added. Sometimes you start down one path and end up creating a completely diffeerent vision that isnt even related, so with these i  have tried to stay true to the story and focus on the basics of composition and values.
And if that didnt bore you, you can check out the painting processes for these pictures here -
